Ted Talks

I doesn't look like were going to finish our robotic legs. Our ted talk is going down well so far. We have a plan of order and hope to not mess up. We will work on our project as much as possible but we have a lot going on in school. Hopefully I can get back to you after ted talks.

Cooldown

Obviously last week was packed. This week is kinda a cooldown week and planning we don't know what were gonna do next but were planning to do something. Hopefully when we get a good idea or get a good plan we will be able to tell you. There isn't anything important going on right now.

Awesome Day!

Yesterday me and my partner skipped school to work on our 20% time project. We went to see some engineers and designers to help us out with what will work and what won't. After that we went to a convention  for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Here are some pictures from yesterday.

We're doing our best.

We have all the motors and the fiberglass material thing that were going to use. We are looking at braces to keep the suit in tact. We need to acquire all the material before we start building (it'll make it way easier to organize). I will try to get back to you guys when something important happens.

Good News!

We have aquired the engines for our project and some materials and are getting close to start assembling, and the project I posted I got a 100% on and I thought I would share just as a small overview for you guys.

20% Time Checkpoint Assignment
Due April 11, 2016

Identify 4 elements that you have completed on your 20% Time project since the Idea Showcase in February. (All blog posts count as “one” element). State where the evidence is to mark it as completed.

Identify at least 3 tasks you want to/need to complete to keep your project moving forward or get to your end product. (long-term goals)

Reflect upon the progress you’ve made by answering these questions/prompts
  1. Have you accomplished what you set out to do so far?
  2. Write about your successes and failures so far.
  3. Write about what you want to do in the next 3 weeks and if it is possible. (short-term goals)
  4. Explain in depth what do you need to do to accomplish those 3 tasks (short-term goals).

Please create a stand-alone visual presentation (Google Presentation, Animoto, WeVideo, etc) that will show all who watch what you have accomplished and the direction in which your project is moving.  Your presentation needs to be thorough enough that it needs no explanation from you in order for the viewer to understand and should answer all questions stated above.

This is a GRADED assignment based not on the presentation itself but

We have done material testing - Andrew shot different types of material with a gun we have pictures on Andrew’s phone as well as material before and after on my blog: http://thenewsuitandrews.blogspot.com/

We have changed our designed and pursued it - We have changed from hydraulics to an engine we have proof from Andrew’s dad if you need it we can get him to write a note with a signature

We have built a model of the knee joint it’s in Mr. Eckert's class, as well as presenting it to triumph systems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We need to meet with the engineers that Andrew's dad knows so they can help us, we have presented the idea but we haven’t expanded a ton on it.

Make attachment points for the electric motors.

Attach motors and tie rods, test and fine tune the final products
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have successfully changed our design
We have talked to the engineers but not personally
We have blogged successfully almost every week
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Successes-
Changed our design
Blogged every week
Gotten an idea for how we are going to make our final product
Failures/SetBacks-
We haven’t been able to meet the engineers personally yet
Our model has been broke twice (kinda our fault)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We want to meet the engineers
We want to get our first material
We want to get close to a design
We want to get together and work on our project more
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have to really set a due date and really be serious about this
We have to order it as soons as possible
We need to accomplish the first goal

We need to be serious and really think about the future of our project

Model

We are almost done with a smale scale model of the leg. Then after were done with that we have some guys we are going to meet up with. They are engineers that are willing to help us.

Change of Plans

We are changing our design. We will instead use a motor with a wheel and two offset bar to power the legs and possibly arms. My partners dad knows two engineers that will help us with design and the process of the project. We will skip some school to have a meetup with them. Hopefully we will make this work out.

Building

We have began to make small scale homeade hydraulics with small tubes. We will expirament with those for a while and see what we can do with them. Our idea showcase is in a week from this tuesday. We will aquire a science fair style poster board and show what we have done so far. We are going to buy a leg brace and some hydraulucs and we will start to build the actual product.

Parts

Me my mom and my partner for our project will be looking car parts like steel and hydraulics so we have to spend minimal amounts of money. We are looking into metal shops. My partner and I know 2 people that have metal shops we will start to build our project soon.

Model

We are aquiring seringes, tubing and popsicle sticks for a small scale model of the way our hydrolics work. We are doing our best to try to put together a somewhat working model to present and try out to prove our idea works. Hopefully we get the materials soon.
